Al iniciar la instalación de SQL Server 2008 en Windows 7 el siguiente error puede aparecer El programa de instalación de SQL Server encontró el siguiente error: No se puede llamar a Invoke o BeginInvoke en un control hasta que se haya creado el identificador de ventana.

Para solucionarlo instalamos Microsoft Core XML (MSXML) 6.0. Luego procedemos con la instalación.

YUT Codegate 2012 CTF

Este viernes 24 de febrero empezó el Codegate 2012. Logramos terminar en el lugar número 38 de 182 equipos, como siempre ningún equipo de latinoamerica por encima de nosotros :). El equipo no estuvo completo, Daniel solo participó un par de horas y yo tampoco hice gran cosa, la mayor parte del trabajo fue por emyei y gosu. Nuestro scoreboard al final del evento fue:

N900 Mer boot to QMLViewer

The following kickstart files allows the n900 to boot into qmlviewer, I’m going to highlight just the bottom of it, with the next lines we create the launcher for the qmlviewer and then create a symbolic link to make it the default desktop environment.

Fix for Failed to upload package: Failure on QtCreator

Just got hit by this problem, whenever I tried to deploy my application:

And a notification warning about the little remaining data storage appeared on the device, which I wrongly ignored at first. The problem occurs because QtCreator tries to copy the debian packate to /tmp on the device, N9 for me, and it fails if the space is full. I managed to fill my /tmp partition (which is just 4Mb btw..) by testing some big application. Solution is, ssh to your device, check if you /tmp is full (df -h) and delete any .deb file left there by QtCreator.

After downloading the mentioned file, we can see it is a pyc file which can be run with python2.7, using the script provided here to review the structure of pyc files (if you are using 64 bits python make sure to change struct.unpack(‘L’, moddate)[0]) to struct.unpack(’<L’, moddate)[0]) to get it working.) we could see some stuff like how many arguments it required to run:

Advertencia: No me hago responsable de cualquier daño que pueda ocurrir. El proceso que documento en la siguiente entrada es el que me funciono a mi. Específicamente, el teléfono que se reparo fue un iPhone 3G, con baseband 06.10.00, este procedimiento ni el firmware que se proporciona funcionará en otros modelos.

Primero intentare explicar porque se produce este error, muy seguramente tu telefono para poder liberarlo del Carrier Lock (abrirle las bandas, liberar la sim para que acepte otros operadores) la persona que lo liberó instalo el baseband 06.10.00 para iPad en su teléfono, y luego usó la herramienta ultrasn0w.

CTF Campus Party 2011 Colombia

Este año representé a NULL-Life en el CTF de Campus Party Colombia, logré obtener el primer lugar, el premio fue un magico iPad 2 :D (que aún no me han entregado, pero la paciencia es la virtud de todo pentester). Les dejo el writeup para que vean la dificultad y solucion de todos los retos.

La próxima semana viene el CTF de Campus Party Valencia, en el cual podremos participar como equipo :D

PlaidCTF 2011 - Division is HARD!!

Esta vez participamos en el PlaidCTF, organizado por el Plaid Parlament of Pwning. Muchos retos, casi 40 para resolverlos en 2 dias, y con una dificultad considerable.

Obtuvimos la posicion numero 42 con NULL Life, aunque nos faltaba un miembro importante del equipo. Nos ubicamos por encima de los otros equipos Colombianos, el ultimo dia del ctf el equipo RICTeam nos logro empatar, pero teniamos un As bajo la manga y los pudimos dejar abajo faltando 5 minutos para terminar el CTF cuando ya poco podian hacer. Pueden ver la tabla de posiciones completa en el sitio de plaidctf.

It has been a while since I first tried and failed to get mic2 working on my ArchLinux machine. Since then Arch moved to python 3, and some additional steps are required to get it working, fortunately this time the issues I encountered where easily fixed, I will be reporting them to the packages maintainers, also I have adopted one of them that was abandoned. I have uploaded my PKGBUILDs here just in case the maintainers are unable to make changes soon.

If you keep getting this warning, even though you are supplying a different username and a password, make sure the sql.safemode setting is Off on the php.ini file. On linux/cpanel instead of showing IUSR the user of your cpanel account may appear, but the problem is still the same.

Primero que todo debemos conseguir el firmware xc3028-v27.fw y copiarlo a /lib/firmware/. Para los que quieran obtener el firmware, en mi sitio lo he subido, aclaro que no se si tengo derecho para distribuirlo, si alguien se queja lo quitaré. Update: I’ve just updated the bookmarklet, I added the option to tell it the team size, it was hardcoded at 200, now you can put the value, also it doesn’t show members with 0 karma. I’ll probably get off my laziness and code it in perl/python :)

Explotar vulnerabilidad LNK

Gracias al analisis sobre la vulnerabilidad y explotacion de LNK realizado por Daniel, se pudo crear un archivo LNK indetectable por los Antivirus que reproduce esta falla, les recomiendo esta lectura a los que esten interesados en este bug.

Defcon and smpCTF 2010 PreQuals

Este año participé con el equipo de Daniel en los Prequals de Defcon y smpCTF. Fue una gran experiencia, no habia participado en este tipo de eventos hace varios años, desde que deje de resolver los retos de Yashira, logramos quedar en las posiciones 91/266 en Defcon y 30/196 en el smpCTF, por encima de otros equipos de Colombia.

Daniel ya publicó algunos papers sobre Defcon, y pronto colocará los nuevos sobre smpCTF.

Reparando el error 1606: Could not access network location %APPDATA%

Este problema puede ocurrir al intentar instalar o desinstalar algún programa:

Tambien ocurre cuando se instala el Microsoft Security Essentials, y el numero de error es 0x80070643.

Para solucionarlo ejecutamos el regedit, y vamos a:

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders

Verificamos el tipo y el valor de el registro AppData, tiene que ser REG_EXPANDED_SZ, y en mi caso Windows 7 tenia un valor incorrecto «%APPDATA%» lo cambiamos por «%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming».

He preparado un archivo archivo .reg para corregir automaticamente este problema, lo pueden descargar aqui para Windows 7.

Como reparar bucle infinito Actualizacion 3 de 3

Durante la instalacion del SP1 de Windows Vista, es posible que el equipo quede en un estado donde cada vez que arranque nos muestre un mensaje que diga ‘Configurando actualizacion 3 de 3’ se reinicie, y al encender nuevamente siempre nos muestre el mismo mensaje.

Para reparar este problema, algunas veces se puede ingresar al sistema en modo seguro, y renombrar los archivos pending.xml y cleanup.xml de Windows\WinSXS, cuando no es posible hacerlo y contamos con el medio de instalacion, podremos usar la opcion de Reparar sistema, ya que no todos los fabricantes envian el medio de instalacion original es posible que no lo tengamos, en este caso, iniciamos el equipo desde un Windows PE / BartPE, o un LiveCD de GNU/Linux.

To fix the look of Shiretoko on Archlinux do:

pacman -Syy pacman -S pacman -S qtcurve-gtk2

Go to Applications -> Settings -> GTK Styles and Fonts

Select ‘Use another style’ and choose ‘QtCurve’ and you are done.

I’ve been wondering if I should get a Nokia N810. I have already installed the Maemo SDK, and got some demos running on my box. I will keep checking the SDK this weekend, if things goes smooth, I’ll probably buy it next week, it’ll cost me around 620 USD, 200 dollars more than Amazon’s price, sucks, but that’s what happens when companies like Nokia don’t bring their products into ’third world countries’. Should I consider another device?
